My 200th CEO Blog
If someone told me that on the first day of joining Nash Squared in February 2020 I was going to be writing the equivalent of a 120,000 word book - similar in length to a typical Harry Potter novel - the size of the task may have put me off starting!
But that wasn’t how I viewed it.
My aim wasn’t to publish 200 blogs, but instead to share my, and many other people’s thoughts, with Nash Squared employees all over the world. And to do it on a regular weekly basis that captured our story as the group grows and evolves.
The fact that we have reached this wonderful milestone is the consequence of consistency; a lesson in believing in and sticking with the plan.
Airport lounges and hotel rooms
But it hasn’t always been easy!
The blog has been written in countless places across the world. For instance, I remember writing the blog (very) early one morning waiting in the airport lounge in Nashville; and as I travelled between our three offices in Vietnam; and as I visited our offices in India. It’s been written in hotel rooms across Europe, on trains and on planes. It’s been written late at night, early in the morning – and sometimes, thankfully – in normal hours too!
In 200 blogs, there has only been one Friday (aside from national holidays) that has been missed, and even then the blog was written over the weekend and shared the following Monday.
Not just blogs
Why do I say this all?
Well, I hope in this all is a message about the power of consistency. Not just for blogs, but in the way we communicate with everyone, from our colleagues to clients and candidates. Staying consistent means that everyone knows what they should expect from us and where they stand, which is so important. It takes time and effort to build this level of consistency, but it’s very easy to lose.
So I hope I have been consistent in how often I have posted the blog. But what about the messages themselves? Are they also consistent?
GenAI’s view
Well here we enlisted the help of Microsoft Copilot, feeding in all 199 of our blog postings and asking for a summary. And here’s what Copilot had to say:
“The blogs on Nash Squared’s CEO Blog cover a variety of topics, with a focus on leadership insights, company updates, and cultural events. Here are some of the recurring themes:
- Leadership and Management: Posts often reflect on leadership strategies, management experiences, and the CEO’s personal journey and milestones within the company.
- Company Culture and Events: There are discussions about company culture, celebrations of cultural events like International Women’s Day, and reflections on Employee Appreciation Day.
- Guest Blogs: Various guest bloggers contribute to the site, including other CEOs, directors, and employee resource groups, sharing their perspectives on topics like happiness, inclusion, and collaboration.
- Technology and Innovation: As a technology recruitment and solutions group, there’s a natural emphasis on tech trends, digital leadership, and the impact of technology on business.
- Personal Stories and Anecdotes: The CEO shares personal stories and experiences, providing a more intimate look at the leadership of the company.
These topics are interspersed with updates on company performance, strategic directions, and responses to current global events, offering a comprehensive view of Nash Squared’s ethos and operations.”
I think this sums up what the CEO blog is all about, and I hope you feel the same about the values and topics we share and act upon.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have contributed to the previous 199 blog posts, and look forward to welcoming more of you as my guest blog writers in the future.
In the spirit of staying consistent, look out for next week’s blog at the same time next Friday!
