Did you know that stressed is desserts spelt backwards?
I've been reflecting on the concept of stress and its impact on our lives, especially as this week is Stress Awareness Week.
In a dynamic and fast-moving environment like Nash Squared, stress can feature in our lives, but how we manage it can make all thedifference.
It's easy to overlook the small signs that indicate stressis building up. But being aware of these signs and taking proactive steps toaddress them is crucial for our well-being and success.
So, what does Stress Awareness Week mean for us?
First, it's an opportunity to acknowledge that stressaffects everyone, regardless of their role or experience. It's not just aboutrecognising it in ourselves, but also in our colleagues. Are we providing thesupport they need? Are we fostering an environment where it's okay to speak upabout stress?
Second, it’s about understanding the sources of our stress. For some, it might be the pressure of meeting deadlines. For others, it mightbe balancing work with personal responsibilities. Identifying these sources isthe first step towards managing them effectively.
Third, it’s about adopting healthy habits. This can rangefrom taking regular breaks (we should all be taking a break from our screensevery 20 minutes for 20 seconds anyway), to practicing mindfulness, to ensuringwe have a good work-life balance. Even small changes, like stepping away fromour desks for a few minutes or engaging in a hobby, can make a big difference. Personally,I’m a big fan of going outside and taking a walk in nature to help, usuallywith my trusted dog, Enzo.
Lastly, it’s about continuous learning and support. There isa wealth of resources available to help us manage stress, from workshops andwebinars to counselling services. At Nash Squared, we are committed toproviding these resources and encouraging everyone to take advantage of them. If you need help, please do contact yourlocal HR representative.
