We all have potential all we need is opportunity
I have the absolute pleasure to take over Bev’s Blog this week. The timing couldn’t be better… I have just returned from a week in the Hague with our 14 delegates from our Global Leadership Talent Programme.
So why is it important that we invest in talent development?
Our talent identification processes and our talent development programmes are our strategy to investing in the development of people. This helps us to build bench strength and help to support our colleagues to be ready to make the next step in their careers with us. It is why we will continue to be successful.
What has this week taught me?
I firmly believe that people can easily get lost in the day to day and our hybrid culture has added to this. Whilst I know that we have many positive outcomes from the last three years what I saw this week was perfect. It enabled our colleagues to build deep and lasting connections, to share their experiences and to give them a platform to demonstrate the innovation and thinking that they bring.
We also got to learn more about the individuals behind these amazing professionals. I learnt that Luke learnt to play the piano in lockdown and there just happened to be a piano in the hotel. I learnt more about Vietnamese food when Loan and Son Bui arrived with treats which were delicious. I also got to hear about Dutch culture as Auke and Sarah helped us to understand more about their wonderful country.
Our week concluded with our two groups presenting to the Executive Committee many of whom made the trip to attend face to face. They were challenged by Bev to help the exec think about how we take a sustainable, global approach to customer centricity. All I can say is watch this space, I am sure you will hear more about this in the coming weeks.
I feel honoured and proud to be the Head of Talent & Experience for Nash Squared. It is a privilege to support the development of our colleagues across the globe and to see the magic happen when we unlock their talents.
Finally, I genuinely believe that we ALL have potential so I will leave you with this quote…
“Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sing best”
Henry van Dyke
